Ferrari's Michael Schumacher can
win a record sixth Formula 1 World Championship at the US Grand
Prix at Indianapolis this weekend, but he needs to finish either
first or second to do it.
Schumacher has 82 points, three more than Juan Pablo
Montoya (Williams), while Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren) has 75 points,
which is seven less than Schuey. The German can win the title this
weekend if…
*Schumacher
wins and Raikkonen is third or lower, and Montoya is sixth or lower.
*Schumacher
finishes second and Raikkonen is fourth or lower, and Montoya is
eighth or lower.
If
he finishes third, the six points he would score would not be enough
to stop Montoya from going to Suzuka, the final round, with a chance
of winning, regardless of where the Colombian finishes.
Speaking of his chances, Schumacher said: "If
there is anything I have learnt during this season, then it would
be that you can throw your predictions pretty much out of the window.
You have to keep a certain prudence regarding the outcome of the
races at Indianapolis and Suzuka." |
