On
the 20th August this year I reported on an accident at Laguna Seca
involving Kroymans F399 (View article here.)
in which he lost control of the car during a display event, hit
the barriers and managed to split the car completely in two.
Well I was contacted by an editor of a UK Motorsport
publication and we have tracked down more information on the crash.
Ross Brawn was able to comment on the situation at the Belgium GP
last weekend:
"We have got the car back at the factory and
we are looking at it, trying to understand it. Although it's the
same model as the one Michael had his accident in, it's a very different
sort of accident. In Michael's, he had a front impact and the wheel
came back into the cockpit and that's what broke his leg. With this
one - as far as I understand - the car went backwards into a barrier,
the wheel became stuck in the barrier as the car spun around it,
putting a tensile load on the car. But we're still investigating
it."
Hopefully more information will be available in
the future but as this is quite a serious accident we don't expect
Ferrari to reveil much more information. |
