Fuel
·
Ferrari and Shell are still focused on this year's technical programme,
but with both championships successfully retained, attention now
turns to the 2005 technical program
· As such, Ferrari will continue to use Shell V-Power ULG59
in Monza
· With so much high-speed running, fuel consumption at Monza
is higher than average
· With such a high average speed during the race, time spent
stationary is heavily penalised. The correct pit stop strategy is
vital
· Monza is on a par with Canada in terms of the severity
of pit stop mistakes being punished
Lubricant
·
When Ferrari bench tests a new engine, it uses data from Monza to
simulate the hardest runs
· Monza's reputation as an 'engine-breaker' is well founded
· Engine cooling at Monza is good, courtesy of the long straights,
but with such hard, sustained running, the Shell engine lubricant
will work hard to protect the 053 Ferrari engine as it turns at
nearly 316 revolutions per second
· Ferrari will use Shell Helix SL785 engine lubricant and
Shell Spirax L6148T gearbox oil in Monza |
