So with Ferrari admitting that Rubens decided he no longer wanted a career at Ferrari, what made him change his mind?
Probably playing number 2 to Michael alot of the time might well be the reason however it would seem the incident in this years Monaco GP where Rubens was passed by Michael going into the harbour chicane on the final lap was enough for the Brazilian to decide that Ferrari was no longer the team for him.
According to Brazilian news agency Warm Up, Barrichello followed his South American friend’s footsteps at Monte Carlo, coming to a handshake agreement with BAR sporting director and compatriot Gil de Ferran shortly after the Monaco race was over.
Barrichello’s manager, Fred della Noce, did not attend any other race after Monaco until the German GP two weeks ago. Della Noce then showed up at the Hockenheim accompanied by Rubens’ lawyer, where both parties settled the terms of the Brazilian’s new two-year deal with BAR, which was finally signed at the Hungaroring last Sunday. |
