On August the 15th a rare collection
of Ferrari Formula One cars took to the Laguna Seca
raceway track which was part of the 'Rolex Monterery Historic Automobile
Races'. Over
100 Ferrari's took to the track over the weekend including a display
of the F2003 GA
driven by Andrea Bertolini. View

2pm
came and a collection of the modern Ferrari F1 cars took the track
(1993-1999) driven by some very lucky rich owners from all around
the world who use the invitation to gain some experience of the
car that they invested so much money into. On display was an ex
Michael Schumacher F399 which was driven by a driver named Kroymans.
I don't have many details on him but I believe he is a Dutch Ferrari
dealership owner. Here is a video of him doing a couple of laps
in his car - Download

Unfortunately
things didn't go according to plan soon after that video was taken
as he lost
control of the car at turn 6 and hit the barriers before bouncing
back into the track. The car seems to be a right off but because
of the nature that the car has been destroyed,
the car has been shipped back to Maranello.

If
you take a look at the photo your see that from the cockpit area
its almost had a complete cut through the chassis like a knife which
shouldn't happen to an F1 car. Ferrari
soon after the incident asked for the car to be returned back to
Maranello for a structural
analysis to determine what caused the car to breakup in the way
that it did. When the results have been decided then the car will
unfortunatly be crushed as its a right off.
Kroymans
escaped without any injuries and walked away from the accident which
is amazing considering the damaged caused and so close to his legs. |
