Irvine back to attack Schumi again - 5th April 09:02am GMT

We haven't seen much of Eddie Irvine since the start of the season but now he is back and as usual he is giving his opinion on everything that is going on in the world of Formula 1. Below is his view o Michael Schumacher.

Michael Schumacher can say what he likes but Formula One's Iron Man buckles under pressure.

Every time Schumacher is up against it he screws up and his antics in Malaysia more than justify my claims.

He says he can cope but what happened at Sepang was a beginner's error and he deserved all the stick he got.

The way he drove into Jarno Trulli is not something you expect from a five-time world champion.

But the reason for his blunder was that Michael found himself under pressure and that is his Achilles heel.

I have always praised Schumacher for his sheer pace, dedication, fitness and skill behind the wheel but in pressure situations he is one of the worst on the grid.

Schumacher should have let the race come to him, stayed out of trouble and sat patiently behind the Renault driver.

But the moment Schumacher noticed that David Coulthard was on the outside of him and looked like getting ahead he over-reacted.

He wasn't expecting it and because it wasn't in the script, he didn't know how to handle the situation.

The biggest shame was that Coulthard broke down when he would clearly have won the race and then gone into tomorrow's Brazilian Grand Prix with maximum points.

That would have been a blow to Schumacher and would really have put him under the cosh.
