There was some confusion over
the livery of those cars which usually carry branding from tobacco
companies, Ferrari, McLaren, Renault and Jordan.
Brazilian law had decreed that tobacco advertising
was banned earlier this year. A special dispensation had been arranged
for the Brazilian GP, allowing cars to run with tobacco branding.
However, the move had not been officially confirmed, so that most
of the teams concerned ran without any branding in the Friday morning
session. Once the matter was cleared up all the teams rushed to
relivery their cars with their respective logos, so that Marlboro
name once again appeared on the F2002.
The team members also had to change all their
clothing and some of the Scuderia boys took a leaf out of Superman’s
book, simply ripping off their shirts to reveal the correctly branded
one underneath! |
