For the first time an agreement has been made over the reduction of testing. Five top teams signed an agreement in which during the season they will only be allowed to test for 36 days.
In 2005 nine teams agreed to a gentlemans agreement that they would only test for 30 days. Ferrari wanted to limit the amount of mileage rather than the amount of test days and because this wasn't agreed, Ferrari went ahead and didn't sign to the gentlemans agreement.
This year, Ferrari have signed a contract along with Mclaren, Honda, Renault and Williams so they can only test for 36 days. At present the agreement by the rest of the teams should be done by fax later next week. The restriction applies from Bahrain (12/3) to Brazil (22/10). From Germany (30/7) to Turkey (27/8) no testing will be allowed by anyone. |
