Another
year and Shell continue there support for Ferrari with an even better
oil and fuel specially designed for the F2004 and the Albert Park
race track.
Fuel
* The new fuel Ferrari is using in Australia, Shell V-Power F1ULG58
has been designed specifically for this type of circuit where fuel
economy is crucial.
*
Albert Park is one of the medium/high speed circuits of the year.
*
The new, shorter pit lane exit should considerably reduce pit stop
time, and might tempt teams into running three stop races as opposed
to the more traditional two.
*
As such, time spent stationary during pit stops could decide the
race, making fuel strategy more crucial than ever.
*
Turns Three and Fifteen demand a fuel that delivers the torque to
accelerate away whilst ensuring the power to hold them at high speed
for the three straights.
*
The fuel must not burn so fast as to force early pit stops or a
necessitate a heavy fuel load.
*
Teams will be qualifying with the lowest possible fuel load on Saturday,
any weight advantage an economical fuel may contribute could mean
all the difference.
Lubricant
* The Ferrari cars will be using Shell Helix F1SL785, a new oil
designed in conjunction with Ferrari for the new 053 Ferrari engine.
*
Engine temperatures in Australia are relatively low and engine cooling
is good - certainly when compared to some of the circuits Formula
One will visit this year.
*
The variable weather seen in Australia in the past could cause fluctuating
engine temperatures which in turn affect cooling and fuel consumption
dramatically.
*
Based on the highly successful gearbox oil introduced in the middle
of the 2003 season, Shell and Ferrari have designed a new oil for
use in the F2004 gearbox , Shell Spirax F1L5361. |
