Bridgestone racing boss Hisao Suganuma
has played down the tyre degradation troubles suffered by Ferrari
in last week's major Formula 1 test at Valencia.
Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello did not
feature at the top of the timesheets until Friday, and were reported
to be suffering from poor tyre durability. It was suspected that
Bridgestone might have brought too soft a compound to the test after
receiving misleading data from the previous week's test at the newly
resurfaced Barcelona circuit. Suganuma denied this.
“We
are expecting this kind of result on this construction, So for us
it was very useful to get the data we wanted to get.” he told
Autosport
He added that the tyre compounds tried at Valencia
would not be seen on the Ferraris at the F1 season opener in Australia
a month from now.
“It is far from the construction we are going
to create for Melbourne,” said Suganuma. “We have a
few more tests to decide, but we were happy with the data that we
have.” |
