Schumacher chats to his fans - 15th Feb 09:37pm GMT

Michael Schumacher talked to Ferrari fans on the 7th February, only a couple of hours after the launch of the F2003-GA. We got to find out what he thinks of the new car and what he has been upto in the winter months.

Q: Michael which team has made more progress during this winter in your opinion apart from Ferrari naturally?
A: to me, Mclaren the times look quite promising for them. And it looks like it will be quoite a good fight this season...

Q: Michael, what do you think about the new ferrari?
A: just look at it, and you are in love immediately - so different from last years car which was even nice, but this seems to look even nicer

Q: How has Mr. Agnelli influenced your life and racing career?
A: I was proud having met him a few times. I was always very much interested to Ferrari and Formula 1. Especially in the bad times, he gave us a lot of support. I am happy that the team dedicated this car to his memory.

Q: Michael, what do you think of your brother Ralf? How will he perform?
A: I think he really is a good driver, but it will depend a lot from the car!

Q: Mika Hakkinen seems to be moving to Rallying. Would you consider such a change after you leave F1?
A: I cannot imagine this at the moment. probably because it is just too far away

Q: do you think williams or maclaren will be your biggest threat this year?
A: I think it is McLaren. With Williams we have just to wait and see how strong they are as soon as they will have all the new pieces of the new car available

Q: Do you have a Ferrari Enzo? What do you think about it?
A: I have driven it several times. For my daily life I prefer the 575 Maranello

Q: How has your testing gone so far? Have you obtained the desired results?
A: testing so far have been really good. We managed to finish nearly everything we planned and the results are encouraging

Q: Are you SO worried about 2003, as you told F1 Racing Magazine in January??
A: no I was not so worried about 2003. I just think it will be tighter this year

Q: Michael what do you think about the disappearance of Belgian GP?
A: i am very sad about it. I love this track as it is so demanding. Maybe, it will come back in the championship next year

Q: Michael, is the F12003-GA ready for the Australian GP? Are you worried about the reliabilty?
A: we have already said that we will start with the F2002, which is still very competitive and reliable. We made a similar choice last year and it proved to be OK

Q: Have you been playing football over the break? How about a Ferrari team!
A: sure, i always try and play football as soon as I have some free time. OVer the winter i have plenty of time

Q: Michael, what's your first impression about new qualifyings?
A: I think there will be a good show. From time to time we will have funny and unexpected grids

Q: Michael do you think that Michelin will have made a big enough advance this season?
A: at the moment it seems they have improved their performance. Let's wait and see how much they did it compared also to Bridgestone

Q: michael what do you think about the HANS device ?
A: we have found a good solution on this. It is for sure much safer to use it. We have just to see if it is comfortable for every driver to be used. If not, I would not say it has to be obligatory

Q: michael do you get as nervous at the first grand prix of the year as we all do??!!
A: actually, yes!! I am surprised myself every time again

Q: Michael, do you prefer Corrina to be with you for the grand prix?
A: sure that would be much nicer but don't forget we have two little children

Q: Michael do you think that it would be better to have two or more type of rain tires and not only one as the new rule want ?
A: yes for sure. To me this is the most critical point on the new regulations

Q: Michael, would you like to see your son an F1 driver?
A: I would love to see him being a golf player.....
