Michael Schumacher has tipped McLaren to
challenge the Ferrari team's dominance of Formula 1 this season.
The German has been impressed by the fast
pace that McLaren has achieved throughout winter testing, which
he believes is largely down to developments made by tyre manufacturer
Michelin.
"I have been impressed by the step forward
carried out by McLaren," Schumacher told Italian newspaper
Gazzetta dello Sport. "I think it is due above all to the good
work done by their tyre supplier [Michelin]. But on the other hand,
I have already said that I expect a closer championship."
Schumacher has also given his backing to
the FIA's ruling on technical changes, which include the banning
of several drivers aids. "They are correct decisions for the
future of the sport," he said. |
