Ferrari
have two test drivers to maximise the mileage on their two private
test tracks this year and lead man Luca Badoer admitted: "When
I first saw the [size of the] test programme I was horrified."
The
champions are aiming to find the advantage through their tyres in
the early races and are the only top team to run with Bridgestone
rubber, the Japanese company.
Badoer
and fellow tester Marc Gene, whom Ferrari snatched from rivals Williams
at the end of last year, will do the bulk of the testing with world
champion Michael Schumacher and his team-mate, Rubens Barrichello,
also helping out. Ferrari team boss Jean Todt is confident that
his designers will create another reliable car even if it arrives
five races after the start of the 19-race season.
