Sauber driver Felipe Massa believes
the experience he gathered last year as understudy to Michael Schumacher
will be invaluable in the 2004 season.
The Brazilian spent 2003 as a test driver for Ferrari
before landing a seat with Sauber for this season.
"Working with Michael and Rubens Barrichello
was great for me," said the 22-year-old.
"I was at most of the races and in most of
the meetings and I think it was very important for me."
He added: "It was like a university. Now I
am just looking forward. I did 15,000 kilometres at Ferrari and
I have to say it was a great experience.
"Michael has 14 years in Formula One, he has
won six championships, it was great to have this kind of experience."
Sauber
gave Massa his F1 break in 2002 and after his stint at Ferrari,
they recalled him to partner Giancarlo Fisichella in the 2004 line-up
although he will still be Ferrari's test driver when a demanding
test session is due.
