| Honda tester Anthony Davidson almost made himself the top man of Friday morning practice for the Chinese Grand Prix, but he was just .017 seconds short of Alexander Wurz Williams.
Davidson in the newly livered 555 brand Honda machine put together a fast lap in the waning seconds of the one hour session to only fall just short of the Austrian’s 1:35.574.
It was good news all around for the Honda team though as race driver Jenson Button finished the session third with a 1:37.291 followed by championship contender Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari.
Neel Jani (1:37.734) proved to be quick in the Toro Rosso car while GP2 stalwart Alexandre Premat (1:37.787) finished his first F1 practice session in sixth position in the Spyker-MF1 car.
Sebastian Vettel (1:37.913) proved once again that he is mature beyond his 19 years of age by taking the seventh spot ahead of BMW-Sauber team-mate Robert Kubica (1:38.062).
Michael Ammermuller, another GP2 driver this past season, received his first taste of a Grand Prix weekend as well Friday morning with an eighth placed time of 1:38.464.
The Renault garage was quiet as championship leader Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella did not participate in the morning session.
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa spent the morning in civilian clothes as well while Schumacher completed a modest four laps around the 5.4km circuit. |
