The Williams
driver, fully recovered from his big crash at Indianapolis in June,
lapped in one minute 34.380 seconds, still more than a second slower
than Friday's quickest at the $325 million circuit.
Colombian team
mate Juan Pablo Montoya was second quickest, 0.299 behind, with
the Ferrari duo of seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher
and Brazilian Rubens Barrichello following.
Schumacher,
winner of 12 of the season's 15 races so far, had struggled with
his car's setup on an unfamiliar circuit on Friday but the champion
appeared to be back on the right track with a lap of 1:34.844.
Canadian former
champion Jacques Villeneuve, making his comeback at Renault after
a year out, was 10th and faster than Spanish team mate Fernando
Alonso.
Renault
are fighting BAR for second place in the championship with two races
remaining after Shanghai. Ferrari and Schumacher have already won
both titles.
