| Practice 2 in Montreal was much more lively with all drivers setting a time. Robert Kubica really showed his worth here and remained sitting in top slot for the majority of the session with an impressive time of a 1:16.965. His only real challenge was from Fernando Alonso who nearly pipped him in the end but came up just over 1 tenth short with a 1:17.095. He was followed by the Williams of Alexander Wurz with a 1:17.337 who was trailed by the McLaren of Kimi Raikkonen with a 1:17.490.
Anthony Davidson (Honda) 1:17.627, Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault) 1:17.805, Mark Webber (Williams) 1:17.848, Vitantonio Liuzzi (Toro Rosso) 1:18.009, Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber) 1:18.015 and Jacques Villeneuve (BMW Sauber) 1:18.035 rounded out the top ten. There was some dramatics for Williams with Nico Rosberg stuck in the pits for the majority of the session. The mechanics eventually got him going in the end and he ended up in 21st (1:19.048).
Honda gave another decent showing this session with Rubens Barrichello in 12th (1:18.279) and Jenson Button in 13th (1:18.429). Ferrari, however, were not as impressive with the cool weather affecting their Bridgestone tyres leaving Michael Schumacher in 15th (1:18.549) and Felipe Massa in 22nd (1:19.099).
Toyota's Jarno Trulli suffered from a gearbox problem towards the end of the session and finished in 19th (1:18.868). Ralf Schumacher didn't fare much better and finished 16th (1:18.614). Toyota are looking for better fortunes this weekend after bringing a new aero package to the circuit.
The main concern for many of the teams was the lack of grip which left many drivers having off-course excursions and driving through the final turn.
