Local hero Rubens Barrichello thrilled
the Interlagos crowd by setting the fastest time in the first of
today's two practice sessions for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Although the track was wet at the beginning
of the session, a it began to dry throughout the session, allowing
most of the field their first clear running of the weekend.
The Williams duo of Ralf Schumacher and Juan
Pablo Montoya rebounded from a troubled qualifying session yesterday
to set the second and third fastest times, ahead of world champion
Michael Schumacher.
Malaysian GP pole sitter Fernando Alonso
set the fifth fastest time in the dying moments, ahead of McLaren
ace Kimi Raikkonen. The Jaguar pairing of Antonio Pizzonia and overnight
pole sitter Mark Webber were seventh and eighth fastest, proving
that their strong showing in yesterday's qualifying session was
no fluke.
David
Coulthard was only ninth fastest in his McLaren, ahead of Nick Heidfeld
and Giancarlo Fisichella. |
