02:55am - 5 Minutes to go before Michael Schumacer comes out on track. He will be the first due to him being 1st in the driver championship in 2002. Rubens Barrichello will be 2nd out, Montoya 3rd etc.
03:00 - Schumacher has left the pitlane and is currently touring the track.
03:01 - On this out lap he is going flat out. No build up. 70% charging.
03:02 - 29.145 is the opening section time for Schumacher.
03:03 - 1:27.130 is the time for Schumacher, over 1 second slower than last season.
03:03 - Barrichello starts his qualifying lap now.
03:05 - 1:26.372 for Barrichello who is 0.742 faster than Michael Schumacher. He clearly has a lighter car.
03:06 - 1:27.450 for Montoya. Over 1 second slower than Rubens and is behind Michael on the grid.
03:07 - Ralf Schumacher starts the lap and well out of shape on the first corner.
03:08 - Ralf very slow in this lap and very untidy. 1.225 down in the second section
03:09 - 1:28.266 for Ralf. 2 seconds slower than the Ferrari's. Coulthard starts his lap now.
03:10 - Coulthard down by .3 on Barrichello in the second section. Barrichello seems to have a light car for qualifying.
03:11 - 1:27.242 for Coulthard who goes 3rd. Raikkonen next in a couple of mins. as we take a break.

03:12 - Raikkonen on track for Mclaren now as he builds up for his lap.
03:14 - Currently 0.1 on Barrichello in section 1. Now. 0.078 down in section 2.
03:15 - Raikkonen gets 2nd. 0.179 behind Barrichello.
03:15 - Buttow now out on track. Honda have 6 engines for Australia and 2 have already blown up this morning.
03:17 - Button goes across the line and its 1:27.159 and takes 4th behind Michael Schumacher who he is running a light car. Jarno Trulli now on track.
03:18 - Trulli trips time beam at section 2. 0.7 down on Barrichello.
03:19 - 1:27.411 for Trulli who takes 6. Barrichello, Raikkonen, Schumacher, Button is now the order.
03:21 - Heidfeld out and is 0.4 down in Barrichello in the Ferrari powered Sauber. Section 2 he is no .575 down.
03:21 - Heidfeld goes 8th and was 1.1 seconds behind Barrichello. Now Fisichella in the Jordan is out.
03:22 - Fisichella is .3 down on Rubens but all cars seem to struggle to beat the Ferraris in the second section the of the track. Now .0676 down on Rubens in the 2nd section.
03:23 - Fisi does 1:27.533 which is position 9. Now a small break

03:25 - Villeneuve hits the track, out to beat his team mate. His car caught fire this morning so he is now in the spare car.
03:26 - Very slow on the out lap compared to other drivers. He has only down 4 laps this morning. First section is: 28.887 and .1 down on Rubens.
03:27 - Still going well in section 2 so he will be high on the grid. His time is 1:26.832 and goes 3rd ahead of Schumacher and behind Raikkonen. 3rd and 5th for BAR. Panis is now out.
03:29 - Panis 0.7 down in the first section so Toyota not going aswell as pre season testing suggested.
03:30 - 1:27.352 and goes 7th for Panis. Just under a second slower. Panis fastest in the second section of the lap. Webber now out in the Jaguar.
03:31 - Gets it wrong on the first corner and in section 2 is 0.8 down on Rubens.
03:32 - 1:27.675 and takes 12. 1.3 down on the leader. Frentzen now out for Sauber.
03:33 - Frentzen almost loses the car and is .5 down in the first section.
03:33 - Now .7 down in section 2. He is right on the edge, maybe to much. He crosses the line to take 11th on the grid. 1.1 down.
03:34 - Alonso, the new guy at Renault is the new guy out on track. .4 down in the first section and 0.7 down now in section 2.
03:35 - Crosses the line and takes 7th. .8 down and out qualifies his team mate Jarno Trullo. Now break time.

03:37 - Ralph Firman in the Jordan is now out on his warmup lap.
03:39 - Barrichello, Raikkonen, Villeneuve, M. Schumacher, Button, Coulthard
03:39 - Firman 0.6 down on the first section.
03:40 - Now 1.174 down in section 2 so very slow for the new Brit. He understeers off the final end of the lap and takes 16th on the grid.
03:41 - Pizzonia out on the track now. Ralf Schumacher currently the fastest down the straight.
03:42 - .6 down in the first section. 2nd section and he is now .894 down.
03:42 - Runs wide on the final corner which loses alot of time. 3.7sec down and takes 17th. Justin Wilson out now.
03:43 - Wilson still having his seat fixed last night. 1.4 down in the first section. Now 2.3 down on section 2.
03:44 - A poor run by the Minardi guy and takes 18th, almost 5 seconds down. Ralph Firman tells press that he pushed to hard and is very disapointed. Verstappen now out.
03:45 - 1.8 down in the 2nd section which isn't to bad. His 7th season now with this best being at Benetton. He takes 1:30.053 and 17th and is ahead of Pizzonia and Wilson.
03:46 - Da Matta out. The final driver. 0.195 down on Rubens. A great first sector time!
03:47 - Still .188 down on Rubens so could he take 2nd?? He crosses the line and takes 11th. His final sector was well down, over a second down.
03:48 - That is it then. The running order is set for qualifying tomorrow. Barrichello, Raikkonen, Villeneuve, M. Schumacher, Button, Coulthard, Alonso, Panis, Trulli, Montoya, Da Matta, Heidfeld, Frentzen, Fisichella, Webber, R Schumacher, FIrman, Verstappen, Pizzonia, Wilson.
